Korhola recovers from losing time to finish third overall
Benjamin Korhola and Sebastian Virtanen score a fourth podium of their maiden Finnish Rally Championship season at the Future SM-Ralli (August 23-24).
The duo finished third overall on the event, the sixth stop on the championship calendar, but had to overcome some adversity after slipping off the road on the third and final stage run on the opening day. The 30 seconds they lost dropped them out of a battle to second into fourth, from where they to fight their way back onto the podium.
They completed that task after the sixth stage of the rally, due in part to the second fastest stage on the previous run, but were unable to recoup more of the time lost to the lead crews over the remaining tests, though they were able to open up a gap of more than a minute over the fourth placed crew.
The result further cemented Korhola in third place in the driver’s standings with a single round remaining in the 2024 season.
