Wagner adds second victory to Austrian championship challenge

Only two weeks after scoring his first victory with the i20 N Rally2, Austrian driver Simon Wagner added a second win to his account in the Austrian Rally Championship at the Lavanttal Rallye (April 11-12).

He and co-driver Hanna Ostlender dominated the event. They led from start to finish, aided by stage victories on the first four of the five stages that made up the opening leg of the event, building up a 15 second lead.

Their rapid pace continued on the second, longer, day of competition. A further five fastest stage times kept the duo ahead of their pursuers, adding five more seconds to their advantage before the end of the event.

Final stage roll costs Zaldivar victory in Argentina

i20 N Rally2 crew Fabrizio Zaldivar and Marcelo Der Ohannesian finished third on Rally Sudamericano Jesús María (April 11-13), the Argentinean round of the FIA CODASUR Rally Championship.

The Hyundai Paraguay-supported pair were part of a fierce battle for the lead for most of the gravel rally. Zaldivar and Der Ohannesian took the lead for the first time after SS7, before adding to their margin on the final stage of the opening day.

Through there were only four stages on Day 2 of the event, there was still enough time for them to lose, then retake, the lead – starting the final stage 3.4 seconds ahead of their closest rivals. However, on the final test Zaldivar and Der Ohanessian rolled the car. Though they were able to continue and finish the stage they had lost 50 seconds, dropping them from the lead to third in the final classification.
