Continuing the consecutive run of gravel events, Rally Italia Sardegna combines fast narrow roads with spectacular dusty jumps. One of the shortest competitive distances of the season, the rally is no less of a challenge. Fans witness an exhilarating ride against a backdrop of coastal scenery and in the searing Sardinian summer sunshine. The Alghero based service park gives the event a holiday feel but there’s no relaxing for the crews.
Competitive rallying in Italy has blossomed since its first event in 1928, the mixed surface ‘Rally of the Flowers’ at SanRemo. The Mediterranean country has played host to a WRC round since the debut championship season in 1973, moving the round from SanRemo to Sardinia in 2004.
