2024 WRC2 Co-Drivers’ Champion

Finnish co-driver Enni Mälkönen initially began competing with a different type of horsepower – showjumping.

However, she later decided to follow in the steps of her father, a rally driver, and made her competitive debut in 2012.

Enni teamed up with Sami Pajari in 2021, before a WRC3 campaign in 2021 saw her win her first FIA title. The Finns were promoted to WRC2 the following year. A fantastic sophomore year in the series yielded more success; three wins, six podiums, and the 2024 FIA WRC2 co-drivers’ title. Enni also made three appearances in the Rally1 class that year, finishing an impressive fourth at her home event in Finland.

In 2025, Enni embarked on a new working partnership with fellow Finn Esapekka Lappi. The pair quickly established a strong foundation, taking third place on their first outing in the Finnish Championship. A sweep of victories – five in total – resulted in Enni and EP being crowned 2025 champions.

Q&A with Enni

What is your favourite WRC round and why?

Rally Finland because it’s my home rally. I love the stages and it’s always nice to have a rally in front of my friends and people who have followed my whole journey from a small dream to the stages.

What do you do to focus before an event?

I have my routines to do everything for the rally – I go through all of the documents for the road checks, stages and notes and then when I go to the rally, I’m sure I have everything in my head already.

What profession would you have chosen if you hadn’t become a co-driver?

Actually, I’m also an engineer in the construction field, so probably that.

Who is your motorsport idol?

I didn’t have a motorsport idol because when I was younger there were no women at the top of motorsport. I think it’s important to have women at the top because it’s not easy to dream something you cannot see.

What’s your secret to success?

There’s no secret – it’s only hard work, focussing on where I’m going and believing in myself.
