Elantra N TCR drivers old and new ready for rejuvenated TCR Europe season
Six Elantra N TCR drivers are part of the 22-car grid for the opening round of the new TCR Europe season at the Algarve International Circuit. The group includes a mix of those already behind the wheel of an Elantra N TCR and those joining the ranks of Hyundai Motorsport customers for this season.
After being race winners in TCR Italy last year, South Korean drivers Junui Park and Junesung Park make the jump to the international series with the Solite Indigo Racing squad. Also switching series, rather than car, is Irishman Max Hart, who returns to Europe after two seasons as one of the front-runners in TCR Asia. For his first TCR Europe campaign, he links up with the Target Competition team, champions with British driver Josh Files in 2019.
They will be joined by three cars from the experienced JSB Competition squad, the French team returning to TCR Europe for the first time since 2020. On track, the team will be led by Team Principal Julien Briche, a six-time race winner in the series. He will be joined by brothers Jean-Laurent and Pierre-Arnaud Navarro.
Defending TCR Asia champion heads entry list for Shanghai weekend The Shanghai International Circuit hosts the season openers for both the TCR Asia and TCR China series, where Elantra N TCR customers won both titles last year. The 2024 TCR Asia champion Zhang Zhen Dong heads the entry list for the series’ combined races this weekend in his Z.Speed N-prepared car. Zhang’s Elantra N TCR is one of two cars entered by the team, alongside the i30 N TCR driven by Lu Jia Jun.
Evolve Racing and driver Lo Sze Ho return to the TCR China grid after being regular top ten finishers last year in their first full season in the championship with the Elantra N TCR.
The rest of the eight Hyundai Motorsport customers on the grid put new drivers behind the wheel of the Elantra N TCR, with three entering under a team new to the car for this year. DTM Racing by Force field the cars of Hu Heng, Liu Hong Zhi, and Huang Ying, while drivers Sang Si En and Deng Bao Wei start the season for SS MRC Racing.
