KMSA Motorsport win on debut weekend in TCR Chinese Taipei

The Korean KMSA Motorsport team and driver Jeong Weon Choi made a fast start to their first season in TCR Chinese Taipei at Lihpao Racing Park (April 25-27). The Elantra N TCR driver was quickest in qualifying but lost the lead early in Race 1 and was unable to find a way back ahead. Roles were reversed in Race 2, when Choi made a better start from second on the grid to take the lead before pulling away to notch a first win in the championship.

Zhang Zhen Dong dominates TCR China’s opening weekend

Reigning TCR Asia champion Zhang Zhen Dong enjoyed a perfect start to the new TCR China season, taking pole position and winning both races in Shanghai (April 26–27). The Z.Speed N driver was dominant in Race 1 on the Chinese Grand Prix circuit, leading from start to finish in his Elantra N TCR, with Evolve Racing’s Lo Sze Ho coming from the back of the grid to sixth in his Elantra N TCR, ahead of La Ka Chun and Huang Ying, the latter with the DTM Racing by Force team, on their debut as Hyundai Motorsport customers in the championship.

Zhang had to fight from tenth on the partly reversed grid to secure Race 2 victory to complete the weekend with Huang and Lo Sze Ho again joined him in the top ten in fifth and eighth respectively.

New TCR Europe season with renewed interest from Hyundai Motorsport customer

Six Elantra N TCR customers lined up for the start of the new TCR Europe season at Portimão (April 21-23). Frenchman Julien Briché was the best placed of the group in Race 1, coming home in eighth in his first TCR Europe race start with the car, on his return to the championship with his own JSB Competition team. He finished ahead of Junesung Park, one of the two Korean drivers – alongside Junui Park – making the move from TCR Italy to TCR Europe with the Solite Indigo Racing squad. Max Hart, who has competed in TCR Asia for the last two seasons, started from Race 2 pole in his Target Competition-run Elantra N TCR, but was beaten to the first corner. The Irishman would lead home the Hyundai Motorsport customers in seventh.
