TCR Junior Driver program launched
As our customers continue to derive benefits from the performance of our i30 N TCR, we have unveiled a new initiative to support up-and-coming young drivers.
The program represents a long-term commitment to our TCR customers around the world, and expands on our existing services.
The scheme is open to any driver under the age of 24 racing with one of our TCR customers. It is designed to help with their progress through the various national and regional series, and towards WTCR.
“We already have some fantastic drivers racing with our cars, and the opportunities presented by being part of the program will hopefully attract more young talent to Hyundai and the i30 N TCR,” said our Team Director Andrea.
A results driven opportunity
Drivers will be selected based on results on track, as well as their ability to work with the teams’ engineers and their professional approach.
They will have the support and mentoring of our customer drivers in WTCR, including 2018 champion Gabriele Tarquini. Extra opportunities for training and media coaching will also help them in their driving career. Junior drivers will also be invited to a WTCR event during 2019, while the best performances will be rewarded with a BRC Racing test alongside the regular line-up.
“Having this level of support from a customer racing manufacturer is fantastic,” said TCR Promoter Marcelo Lotti. “A major part of the appeal of the category is the ability for drivers and teams to progress from a domestic series to international competition with the same car. There are already a great number of very talented up-and-coming drivers racing in TCR, and incentives like this will only make the series more attractive.”
