Eric Camilli leads the French Tarmac Rally Championship standings after a second win of the season in dramatic fashion at Rallye Aveyron Rouergue – Occitanie (5-6 July).

Camilli and co-driver Thibault de la Haye led for most of the opening day of the rally after winning three stages of the opening loop and half of the eight stages contested before the overnight halt. However, the second day of running brought changing weather conditions and difficult tyre choices for the 2C Competition i20 N Rally2 crew and their competitors.

Struggling – relatively speaking – on the wet roads Camilli and de la Haye dropped to second overall but were in position to benefit when the rival for the victory retired with a terminal mechanical issue. The i20 N Rally2 crew cemented their place at the top of the overall standings with two more fastest times on the final loop on their way to a second victory of the year, following their success at Rallye d’Antibes in May. The result gives them a five point lead at the top of the standings as the championship moves into its second half.

They were joined on the overall podium by i20 R5 pairing Jordan Berfa and Damien Augustin. Long-time Hyundai Motorsport customer Berfa was a constant in the top ten stage times and crucially avoid any mistakes on the difficult roads to climb to third in the overall results.
