Rally Japan will return as the closing event of the season for a third time in 2024. Previously a gravel event before a brief hiatus from the WRC, this tarmac rally will be based in the mountainous regions of Aichi and Gifu, around three hours from the country’s capital Tokyo. Tyre choice has proved to be crucial to success at Rally Japan, whose roads certainly put crews through their paces. Passionate Japanese motorsport fans are sure to be enticed by the roar of rally cars, while the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships could well be decided at the season finale. There is guaranteed to be plenty of action as WRC takes its final bow.
2023 Summary
Treacherous conditions at last year’s edition of Rally Japan meant that many crews were caught out on the narrow mountain roads, including two of our own. Esapekka and Janne, however, had a steady run that carried them to fourth overall.
