Gottsacker and Wickens score victory in Canada

Defending champions take first win as a driver pairing

Defending series champions Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens scored their first of 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, coming out on top at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (12-14 July).

Gottsacker qualified their Bryan Herta Autosport Elantra N TCR on pole position and led the early laps of the two-hour before the first of man lead swaps with the current championship leaders. Throughout his stint Gottsacker and then Wickens – the Canadian in his home round of the season – remained in close contention for victory and were perfectly placed to take advantage when their race-long rivals retired with a mechanical issue. The victory was their first as a pairing, having won the 2023 title without winning a race.

The win allowed them to close the gap on the 2024 championship leaders, though they remain in third – one place behind team-mates Preston Brown and Denis Dupont who completed the podium to similarly narrow the margin to the top of the points with their fourth podium in six races. Four events remain in the season.
