Josh Buchan secures the team’s first-ever podium at the circuit
Both HMO Customer Racing drivers showed great pace at Queensland Raceway in TCR Australia (August 2-4).
The team’s i30 N TCR driver, Tom Oliphant scored pole position – his first with team – although a grid penalty for an engine change meant he only started Race 1 from 6th. However, his strong pace remained in the race. He was one of very drivers to complete an overtake on track, gaining two places to finish fourth, while team-mate Josh Buchan moved from seventh on the grid to finish sixth in his Elantra N TCR.
Race 2 brought a first-ever Queensland Raceway podium for both the team and Buchan, as he finished third. Oliphant was quick once again as set fastest lap. However, he was limited to finish 11th after being handed a controversial drive-through penalty during the race.
Both men gave a repeat performance in the weekend finale – Buchan once more standing on the podium, while fastest lap – and on this occasion a well-deserved fourth place – went to Oliphant after he had started seventh.
