Janík Motorsport dominate races on home soil

Homola extends points lead after Most weekend

Janík Motorsport swept the Autodrom Most weekend (August 2-4), the first to two home events in TCR Eastern Europe for the Czech squad.

Defending champion Maťo Homola continued his dominance on a Saturday, taking his Elantra N TCR to pole position, which he converted into a race victory at the head of a 1-2 for the team, ahead of stable-mate Adam Kout.

Kout made an astounding start to Race 2. Starting from ninth, he was in the lead before the end of the opening lap. He protected the advantage through two restarts after on- incidents to secure a first win of the season. The race also brought the first podium of the year for Zarko Knego, who finished third in his Auto Klub Dubrovnik-entered Elantra N TCR as he held off the faster runners coming through the reversed grid, led by fourth placed Homola.

Importantly for Homola’s title ambitions the weekend at Most was the first time he had beaten his main rival – i30 N TCR driver Attila Bucsi – in both races of a meeting. Bucsi just missed the Race 1 podium in fourth before chasing Homola across the line in Race 2 to finish fifth after recovering from first lap contact that dropped him to the tail of the field.

Homola’s lead in the standings now stands at 26 points with two weekends remaining. Janík Motorsport and Bucsi remain the clear leaders in the series’ Teams’ and Junior Drivers’ points.
