Elantra N TCR drivers finish first and second at Suzuka

The Korean KMSA Motorsport N squad added victory in the opening race of the TCR Japan at the Suzuka Circuit (October 5-6). Jeong Weon Choi lead the race from start to finish and crossed the line followed by team-mate Masanobu Kato complete a 1-2 for the team. Kato had had to move up from third on the grid, taking second with a strong move around the outside of the final chicane at the end of lap two. After completing the overtake Kata closed in on Choi but was never close enough to mount a challenge for the victory.

The second race was less straight-forward for the team. Firstly, Kato was forced to pull in at the end of the formation lap. Choi, meanwhile, led from pole position – holding a narrow lead for much of the race – until he was out-dragged down the pit straight with a handful of laps remaining. Though the leader pulled away, Choi finished in second place.
