Hyundai Motorsport customers seal TCR Eastern Europe title double with season finale 1-2 finish
A 1-2 finish for the Hyundai/Janík Motorsport at the TCR Eastern Europe season finale at Balaton Park helped secure a first series title for Elantra N TCR driver Adam Kout, adding to the team’s impressive record in the championship.
Following two championship wins for Maťo Homola, Kout’s 2025 title was the third consecutive year that drivers from the Czech squad had taken top honours. Furthermore, the 1-2 in the final race of the season allowed the team to come from behind at the last opportunity, clinching the Teams’ Championship for the fourth straight year.
Kout arrived at the Hungarian track, where the title would be decided, just eight points ahead. Though he added to his advantage with the points for pole position – his fifth of the six-date calendar – and Race 1 victory, the title was only confirmed in Race 2 after his title rival retired from the race. Regardless of the pressure now removed, Kout continued his progress forward to follow team-mate Jiøí Zbožínek across the line, as he claimed his first TCR Eastern Europe victory.
The result was the team’s first 1-2 of the season – perfectly timed to snatch the Teams’ crown – but Zbožínek‘s maiden success was the seventh Janík Motorsport win of the season. The other six went the way of Kout. From the time he won April’s season opener at the Red Bull Ring, Kout was never pushed from the top of the standings. Further wins at Salzburgring and Most helped keep him ahead before a perfect weekend – pole position, two victories and two fastest laps – at Slovakia Ring seemed to strike a decisive blow in the title battle.
His rival fought back at Most with a weekend sweep of his own to close the gap and set the stage for the title decider.
Further Hyundai Motorsport customer participation in the series came from the Auto Klub Dubrovnik squad. Elantra N TCR driver Žarko Knego finished fourth three times – including both races at Salzburgring – and i30 N TCR driver Luka Fabijančič contributed further points to the squad at Slovakia Ring and Balaton Park. Nemanja Milovanović added a second i30 N TCR to the grid for the season finale, while Robert Pravdič was on the grid to start the year in an Elantra N TCR.
Adam Kout said: “The season actually turned out absolutely great. It was a battle until the last race and in the end we managed to secure both the Driver's title and victory in the Team standings, which is absolutely fantastic. The fact that we achieved this with the Hyundai Elantra N TCR made it even better, because our family business has been representing the manufacturer in our dealership for more than 15 years, so I really appreciate that I was able to race with the Elantra. I would also like to thank the entire Janík Motorsport team for their hard work throughout the season, and I really appreciate that we managed to pull it off.”
Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Manager Benoit Nogier said:
Janík Motorsport have been one of the most successful Hyundai Motorsport customers in the TCR category, and their 2025 titles in the TCR Eastern Europe adds another chapter to their history. This season has been incredibly competitive. Even though the team won seven of the 12 races this year, the decision on both titles came down to the last contest of the season and the teams’ title needed their best result of the year to secure them at the final chance. Adam Kout, similarly, has been strong all season in qualifying and the races. Five pole positions from six weekends show his pace, and that of the Elantra N TCR over a single lap, and his race results – including coming through the pack in the reverse grid Race 2 – prove his excellent race craft, which was well-rewarded in the season finale.
