Frenchman puts in best performance of year at penultimate event
2C Competition driver Laurent Pellier finished just 5.2 seconds behind at the end of Rallye Terre des Cardabelles (October 5-6). Alongside co-driver Yannick Roche, Pellier won four of the six stages on the opening day to reach the overnight halt in the lead of the event. The i20 N Rally2 would lose the position following the opening stage of Day 2 of the rally but were able to stay close to the new leaders throughout the day’s two loops of stages.
The fastest time on the penultimate stage put Pellier and Roche just 1.1 seconds behind starting the final stage. However, they were unable to retake the lead. The result was Pellier’s fourth runner-up finish of the season, and his fifth podium in as many events. However, he goes into the final round of the 2024 season still searching for a first national gravel championship win.
