i20 N Rally2 driver wins three stages on the final round

Only a late technical issue prevented Automotor Rally Team pairing Fau Zaldivar and Marcelo Der Ohannesian from ending the Paraguayan Rally Championship season with a victory at Rally Guairá (November 30-December 1).

The i20 N Rally2 duo won the first two stages to put themselves in a lead. Though the margin was slight – 15 seconds at most – it was enough for Zaldivar and Der Ohannesian to defend, holding the position until the start of SS6 – the penultimate stage of the rally, and the season.

There they had to battle against a technical problem. Arriving more than two minutes late into a time control, the penalty dropped them from the lead to third. The same problem would rule them out of the Power Stage entirely, though their margin over the rest of the field meant that even with a nominal time on the final stage the pair kept the final step on the podium.
