Camilli chases strong result to preserve championship ambitions

i20 N Rally2 driver Eric Camilli needs a strong result from the penultimate round of the French Tarmac Rally Championship at the Critérium des Cévennes to stay in title contention. Camilli, who has two victories in the series this year with co-driver Thibault de la Haye and their 2C Competition-prepared car, sits 23 points behind the points’ leader in third position. Coincidentally, that deficit exactly matches the maximum number of points available from each of the remaining two events on the calendar. A better result than the championship leader at this weekend’s Montepellier-based rally will keep Camilli in with a chance going into next month’s Rallye du Var. Failure to do so will leave he and de la Haye with little more than pride to fight for at the season finale.

Van Deijne aims for repeat of 2023 result at Twente Rally

Three i20 N Rally2 crew are among the entrants for the Twente Rally in the Dutch Open Rally Championship, including defending champion Kevin Van Deijne. However, he is only third in the points going into this weekend’s event – the penultimate date on the calendar. Van Deijne and co-driver Hein Verschuuren will need a similar result to last year, when they took the points for victory from the rally, if they are to defend their title into the season finale. Also on the entry list for this weekend’s contest are Swede Stig Andervang, who has a best finish of third in Dutch competition this year, and Martin van Iersel, who finished second in the national rally last year, completing an i20 N Rally2 1-2 behind van Deijne.
