2023 national champs score first win of the year

Outgoing national champions Marko Grossi and Tara Berlot scored a first win of the 2024 Slovenian Rally Championship at Rally Soča Valley (October 18-19). The pair, sharing and i20 R5, finished the event more than two minutes ahead of their nearest rivals. They inherited the lead when i20 N Rally2 crew Rok Turk and Blanka Kacin – already confirmed as champions for the season – were excluded after stage six because their car was missing the rear bumper.

Turk and Kacin had appeared on course for another overall victory, winning the first six stages and building a lead of over a minute before the stewards intervened. For their part Grossi and Berlot were consistent. Each time Turk and Kacin won a stage they were second fastest, leaving them in position to take advantage when the Hyundai Slovenia-crew exited the event.

Dominant victory secures national title

Victory on the South Borneo Rally (October 18-20) secured the Indonesian Rally Championship title for driver H. Rihans Variza. In his i20 N Rally2, Variza and co-driver Mohamed Fahrezi Fadh were fastest on 11 of the 12 competitive stages to score a thumping overall win by more than four minutes. The victory was their third in the national championship this season.

Variza’s team-mate Riszki Prayoga finished fifth overall with co-driver Donny Wardono, despite the pair retiring during the opening day of the event.

French crew seal overall podium with final stage victory

i20 N Rally2 crew Louis Constant and Pierre Delorme completed the overall podium at the Finale de la Coupe de France des Rallyes – Nice (October 18-19). The pair finished third, just 14 seconds behind the winner at the event, which brings many of the top amateur rally crews in France together for a single event. Constant and Delorme were podium contenders of the whole event but began to move clear in the battle for third on the afternoon’s three-stage loop. They finished the rally with victory on the final stage.

Husband and wife crew Anthony Puppo and Virginie Puppo-Seret finished fifth overall in their i20 N Rally2 after a consistent event where they were never outside of the top six positions on any stage. Paul Euvrard and Arthur Chrisment finished 11th overall in another i20 N Rally2.

Solans’ strong pace result in podium finish on Superchampionship return

Nil Solans finished third on his first start in the Spanish Superchampionship this year at RallyRACC Catalunya – Cosat Daurada (October 18-19). In his first start in an i20 N Rally2 anywhere since the middle of the 2022 season, Solans was immediately on the pace in an entry supported by Hyundai Motor España. He was second fastest on the tarmac Super Special Stage that started the mainly gravel event and settled into a top five position once the main stages started – though he was second again on a repeat run of the 1.55km tarmac test.

After briefly falling to sixth, the third fastest time on the last two stages lifted Solans and co-driver Marc Marti up the order to complete the overall podium.

The next best i20 N Rally2 in the final results was that of Sergi Pérez Jr and Axel Coronado, who finished in seventh position.
