Dominant so far, Z.Speed drivers face fresh challenge in Thailand

Z.Speed’s stable of Hyundai Elantra N TCR drivers will be aiming to continue their dominance of the TCR Asia season as the series swaps Sepang for the Buriram circuit in Thailand for round three. The team’s drivers won all four races held over two weekends at the Malaysian venue, with Chinese Zhang Zhen Dong leading the points after taking three victories. However, Buriram, which previously hosted rounds of not only TCR Asia but also the TCR International Series – forerunner of the TCR World Tour – will be a new challenge for many teams and drivers in the series. The circuit features several long straights that test the top speed of the Elantra N TCR and other cars on the grid, while a number of heavy braking zones could make the Compensation Weight carried by Zhang and the other front runners a crucial factor in deciding the races.

Bryan Herta Autosport crews’ title challenge reaches critical moment

After helping Hyundai take the lead of the manufacturers’ points for the first time this season, the Bryan Herta Autosport Elantra N TCR drivers will need another set of strong results this weekend if they are to remain in realistic contention to also retain the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge drivers’ and teams’ titles. VIRginia International Raceway hosts round eight of the season – a two-hour race around the undulating 17-turn circuit. The Bryan Herta Autosport team has enjoyed success at the circuit before, winning in 2020 – when they finished 1-2-3 with the Veloster N TCR – and 2022 – when they delivered a 1-2 with the Elantra N TCR. However, the team have only two victories from the seven races so far this season, leaving them in a position where the best-placed team – the #76 of Preston Brown and Denis Dupont – lie 220 points behind in the championship standings with only three races remaining.
