TCR China and TCR World Tour grids line up together at Zhuzhou
The TCR China grid makes it’s second visit of the season to the Zhuzhou International Circuit – this time with a twist: the national series competitors will share the track with the start of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour. The series have two races – one on Saturday, the other on Sunday and for both series the weekend marks their penultimate round before they each head for finale in Macau. While Hyundai Elantra N TCR driver Norbert Michelisz leads in World Tour, Martin Cao is the best placed of the Hyundai N team’s drivers in TCR China, sitting second. However, Zhuzhou is Cao’s home track, and he already has one victory at the circuit this season, so he could be the man to watch in the national championship, and to challenge the World Tour drivers on track. Cao will be joined by his team-mates Rainey He and Andy Yan on the TCR China grid, as well as Evolve Racing driver Lo Sze Ho.
Buchan aims to overhaul points’ leader at most successful circuit
Josh Buchan’s most successful circuit in TCR competition appears on the TCR Australia calendar at just right time, as the series travels to Sydney Motorsport Park for the penultimate round of the season. The Elantra N TCR driver has scored half of his wins with the HMO Customer Racing team at the track. He starts the weekend second in the standings, 27 points in arrears to the current leader, but with a maximum of 141on offer for a perfect weekend of pole and three victories, there is plenty of opportunity to strike a crucial blow in the championship race. Though out of contention for the title, Buchan’s team-mate Tom Oliphant will be aiming to follow on from the strong pace he showed at the previous round, where he claimed a first pole position with the i30 N TCR.
