Turk and Kacin victorious over international entry

Hyundai Slovenia-supported crew take superb victory

Rok Turk and Blanka Kacin rose to the challenge at Rally Nova Gorica (September 27-29) to beat an international field and secure overall victory in the biggest event of the Slovenian Rally Championship season.

Unstoppable so far this year in the domestic competition, the weekend pitted Turk and Kacin against crews and drivers from Germany, Hungary and Norway, in the form of European Championship regular Mads Ostberg, as well as Slovenian pairings, for both overall and European Rally Trophy honours.

After running second to Ostberg on the Friday night Super Special to start the event, Turk and Kacin were quick to take the lead on the opening stage of Saturday morning. Their pace immediately gave them a 20 second advantage over their nearest chasers. The margin proved to be more than enough. Two more fastest times helped add to their lead before the overnight halt before a truly dominant performance on Sunday.

The i20 N Rally2 pair won all six stages on the day, leaving their rivals standing and stretching their winning margin to over one minute, 40 seconds by the end of the rally.

Another strong weekend for Hyundai Motorsport customers in Slovenia was completed by i20 R5 crew Marko Grossi and Tara Berlot, who completed the overall podium and a sealed a second consecutive 1-2 finish for Hyundai cars in the national championship results.
