Pair of 3rd places keep Cao in title fight
Hyundai N team driver Martin Cao finished third in both TCR China races of the weekend at Zheijang (August 10-11).
Cao – the defending series champion – started the opening race from fourth in his Elantra N TCR and was part of a race-long battle for the podium positions. The fight for third place was only settled, in Cao’s favour, on the final lap of the contest.
The repeated the achievement in Race 2 after climbing the order from seventh on the grid. He was helped by his Hyundai N team-mate Rainey He, who surrendered the podium position to him in the final laps as both Hyundai N and their title rivals appeared to deploy team orders to give their leading drivers in the championship maximum points as the 12-race season reached the half-way point. He finished fourth after leading the Elantra N TCR drivers for most of the race, with Andy Yan fifth. Yan had also finished in Race 1, with He in ninth.
Hong Kong driver Lo Sze Ho, driving and an Elantra N TCR for Evolve Racing continued his consistent run in his first full TCR China campaign with the car. He finished sixth in Race and ninth in Race 2.
