IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge

Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) drivers Bryson Morris and Mark Wilkins scored their first win of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season at the two-hour race at Road America (July 31-August 3). After Wilkins had started the car, Morris took the lead shortly after the mid-point of the race. In contrast to a first hour marked by several Safety Car periods, the latter stint was neutralised just once, allowing Morris to build a lead he could defend in the closing stages. Finishing fourth, Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker were able to break the tie at the top of the points in Gottsacker’s favour by finishing ahead of their BHA team-mates Preston Brown and Denis Dupont.

TCR Eastern Europe

Adam Kout continues to lead the TCR Eastern Europe standings by a narrow margin after the series’ weekend at Most (July 25-27). However, the Janík Motorsport Elantra N TCR driver briefly lost the championship lead after being demoted from second to fourth by a penalty for contact, giving team-mate Jiří Zbožínek a first podium of the season. Kout bounced back immediately at the start of Race 2, moving from third on the grid to lead at turn one. Though the race was temporarily stopped following a multi-car crash, Kout never gave up the lead, able to pull away when the contest restarted to give himself a two-point lead at the halfway point of the season.

TCR Italy

BRC Racing Team duo Gabriele Covini and Alex Ley locked out the front row for Race 1 of the TCR Italy meeting at Imola (August 2-3). In the race, run in changing weather, it was British driver Ley who made the better start of the team-mates to take the lead on his way to a second win of the season. Covini, meanwhile, only finished ninth, having taken a post-race penalty. Ley was again the best placed Elantra N TCR driver in Race 2, finishing sixth.

TC France

Raphaël Fournier scored a fifth win of the TC France season in his JSB Competition-run Elantra N TCR when he won Race 2 of the weekend at Magny-Cours (July 31-August 3). The young driver was twice involved in contact with his title rival during the meeting – for which the other driver was penalized for – but in Race 2 enjoyed a clean race that allowed him to pull away to a clear lead.
