Renewed partnership with Shell

Three-year contract renewal announced ahead of Monte-Carlo

On the eve of the brand new WRC season, we are pleased to announce an extension to our technical relationship with Shell. The three-year deal means that Shell will be co-title sponsor of the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team heading into the 2017 season, which gets underway in Monte-Carlo.

Shell will continue to supply our cars with bespoke Shell Helix Ultra synthetic motor oil, which can help to improve performance and durability. Shell will support our technical teams with their oil requirements for rallies and also assist with development of our Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.

“WRC is one of the most challenging motorsport series in the world,” commented Jochen Lach, Shell Project Lead for WRC Engine Oil Development. “The cars have to perform to the limit, whether it’s -30°C or +40°C outside, which is why we have worked with Hyundai Motorsport to develop Shell Ultra race lubricants designed to improve performance by keeping the engine clean and minimising friction and wear, even in the extreme of rally racing.”

Our President, G.H. Choi added: “Shell has played a very important role in our business globally, both as a technical and a commercial partner. They have been hugely valuable advisors right from our first season in the WRC where we just a factory with a bold vision, to 2016 where we finished second in both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ Championships. We are delighted to continue working alongside them.”
