Road to WEC through ELMS and Trajectory programme

Genesis Magma Racing & the Trajectory Programme

The announcement of Genesis Magma Racing takes Hyundai Motorsport into the realm of endurance racing for the first time, competing with the GMR-001 Hypercar in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2026, when Genesis will become the first Korean team to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team was formally announced at a special event in Dubai, where a model of the car was revealed along with sportscar veterans Andre Lotterer and ‘Pipo’ Derani – the first two drivers for the new team. Genesis’ first venture into motorsport is intended to raise the profile of the brand, embracing the philosophy of ‘Athletic Elegance’ to showcase the performance-orientated Magma line within the manufacturer’s road-car offering. Through embracing the team’s Korean roots and striving for success on track, Genesis Magma Racing also hopes to become motorsport ambassadors for Korea, raising interest in endurance racing and motorsport as a whole within the country.

The Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Programme is a critical part of our preparations as we build the Genesis Magma Racing team that will enter the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship. Central to this has been selecting team members from the existing World Rally Championship and Customer Racing teams within Hyundai Motorsport and giving them the opportunity to immerse themselves in what it takes to be successful in endurance racing. The team members have been embedded within Genesis Magma Racing’s partner team IDEC Sport, contesting the LMP2 class of the 2025 European Le Mans Series. On track, the Trajectory Programme is represented by drivers Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert, who share the car with experienced GT competitor Daniel Juncadella. For all three the season is their first steps in Prototype racing, and an opportunity to make their case to be part of Genesis Magma Racing’s Hypercar driver line-up in the years ahead. They will join the team members who have accompanied them on the Trajectory Programme, as well as drivers and key team members recruited from across the world of motorsport.

Inside the team

From WRC Perfomance Engineer to Genesis Magma Racing Strategist
Vincent Maes
"There are some skills that you already have such as programming data analysis and working together with the drivers, and there are skills that you have to learn which are specific to endurance racing. To learn these, I attended the LMP2 races beside IDEC sport . In the pit wall, on top of gaining technical knowledge, I learnt that it is important to stay calm during the live action".
