Colours unveiled for 2020 campaign
Ahead of the 2020 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup season, we have revealed a first look at the liveries of the four i30 N TCR for the coming campaign.
Title winners from the past two seasons, Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz, return as teammates for BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse.
Experienced TCR team Engstler Motorsport moves up to the WTCR grid for the first time as Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing Team, with drivers Nicky Catsburg and Luca Engstler.
Building up to the new season
“The reveal of the liveries for a new season is always a big part of the build-up to a year of racing,” said our Customer Racing Operations Leader Andrew Johns. “The publication of the designs for our i30 N TCR cars competing in WTCR is no different.”
Both liveries share the same core colours, highlighted by the now familiar Performance Blue alongside the darker blue and red also seen on our i20 Coupe WRC.
The exact nature of the 2020 WTCR season is still unknown. Planned rounds in Hungary and Germany have been cancelled, with additional races added to some of the remaining weekends to maintain the planned 20-race schedule.
Continued support for customers
The publication of the liveries reflects our “business as usual” approach despite the current situation and uncertainty in motorsport surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Our Customer Racing department remains committed to supporting TCR teams around the world in national and regional TCR championship throughout the enforced break.
“It is important that, despite the uncertainty around the motorsport calendar, we remain focused on preparing for the return to racing. Voluntarily working from home under measures intended to stop the virus, we are operating to the fullest extent possible as we continue to support our customer teams, not only in WTCR, but also around the world in TCR series and those rallying with the i20 R5,” concluded Andrew.
